Community Emergency Response Team

**Some members are now certified**

This is a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program that helps educate citizens about hazards they may face and trains them in lifesaving skills so that they are better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their communities.

The course was held in the Court House annex. As Ham radio operators this training has helped us meet our self-set obligation of providing public safety and service to the community.

The training involved 20 hours classroom and hands on demonstrations, and it took about 6 weeks to complete.

Taking this course myself, I will have to say it was the well worth the 20 hours spent. I know that I would now be able to assist in an emergency situation at a much higher level than before.
